UNFILED is a work-in-progress salon that pairs a staff member with a postgraduate student to discuss new work in a supportive setting. Hosted by Anna Munster and Lindsay Kelley.

Speakers

Alia Parker, “Affective Clothing: A Collaboration with Fungi”

Bio: Alia Parker has extensive multi-disciplinary experience in the fashion and textile industry as a designer, maker, educator and critical thinker. Currently undertaking practice-based research at UNSW exploring the affective potential of emergent biomaterials, Alia's research and practice has a strong focus on sustainability in the design industry. She maintains her own studio practice as a designer-artist and creative director on initiated projects and commissions, as well as collaborator with other designers, organisations, brands and individuals.

Diana Baker Smith, “Performing Histories: Critical and Creative Engagements with the Archive”

Bio: Diana Baker Smith is an artist and academic. Her research interests include performance, social practice, radical pedagogy, artist-led historiographies and transnational feminisms. Diana is a founding member of artist led collective Barbara Cleveland. Since 2007 she has worked with Barbara Cleveland members (Frances Barrett, Kate Blackmore and Kelly Doley) to develop live performances, video installations and site-responsive projects. Their work has been exhibited in the 20th Biennale of Sydney, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Museum of Contemporary Art (Sydney), Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art (Brisbane), as well as in galleries and museums in New Zealand the UK, Seoul, the USA, Indonesia and Greece. Their works are held in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Campbelltown Arts Centre, Monash University Museum of Art Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
