The Big Anxiety is a bold, new, innovative festival that challenges artists, scientists and communities to question and re-imagine the state of mental health in the 21st century.

Taking a citizen-science approach, The Big Anxiety: festival of arts +science +people will employ state-of-the-art immersive environments, international art exhibitions, theatre and performances, along with interactive media events to increase curiosity and empathy, decrease stigma and foster radical neurodiversity in our society.

Conceived and directed by NIEA director Professor Jill Bennett, this festival will be the first of its kind in Australia. It features over 60 projects- exhibitions and events over 5 thematic streams at 3 hubs - Paddington (UNSW Art & Design campus), Customs House and Parramatta as well as numerous other locations such as the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) and State Library NSW.

The Big Anxiety will run from 20 September till  11 November 2017.
